We believe that great coaches and team support persons are key aspects for a young player's success.

Dedicated to keeping sport healthy and safe, our organization has pledged to align our practices with the Responsible Coaching Movement (RCM), a multi-phase system-wide movement, coordinated by the Coaching Association of Canada and the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport, and is committed to ensuring that our athletes and coaches are protected.


VOLUNTEER APPLICATION PROCESS

Whether you are a coach, manager, or technical team assistant, all volunteers and coaching staff are required to complete the following components of the application process:

COMPETITIVE (U13+) & DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY (U8-U12) TEAMS:

Coaching: All individuals interested in coaching must the Coaching Application.

Team Management: Those interested in managing a team should contact rgardner@atleticokingston.com.

OTHER VOLUNTEER ROLES:

Certification Process for Coaches and Managers

Once approved as a volunteer with the club, the following certifications must be completed by our volunteer coaches and team managers

1. OBTAIN CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK

Expires after 3 years

  • CITY OF KINGSTON RESIDENTS:
  • Applicants must apply for a criminal record check with vulnerable sector check by applying in person or online at: Kingston Police Criminal Records Check
  • RESIDENTS OUTSIDE OF KINGSTON:
  • Applicants must apply for a criminal records check with vulnerable sector check by applying in person or online at: OPP Criminal Records Check
  • REGISTERED MEMBERS OF THE COACHING ASSOCIATION OF ONTARIO:
  • Members can obtain an e-Pic through Sterling Talent Solutions at https://coach.ca/ or by using either of the methods provided above.

2. COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED COURSES BELOW

Reimbursed by the Club upon completion

RESPECT IN SPORT COURSE FOR ACTIVITY LEADERS

Valid for 5 years.

Online 2.5 hour course. Cost $30.

KEEPING GIRLS IN SPORT

To coach any girls teams.

Online 90 minute course. Cost $17.


MAKE ETHICAL DECISIONS TRAINING AND ONLINE EVALUATION

You must have a camera and microphone during this course.

Online 4 hour course. Cost $75

New April 1: Course changes to a 90-120 minute online module.


MAKING HEADWAY IN SOCCER 

Online 60-90 minute course. No cost.

NCCP EMERGENCY ACTION PLAN

Online 60 minute course. No cost.

UNDERSTANDING THE RULE OF TWO

Online 20 minute course. No cost.
