About Us

Atlético Kingston is a non-profit club that provides team play, programs and camps for all ages and abilities from U3 to Adult.

Atlético Kingston is overseen by a volunteer Board of Directors, with a Technical Director and additional administrative staff for day to day operations. The club operates with a team of Staff Head Coaches and over 100 volunteer coaches and assistant coaches.

Our passion is soccer - but our drive is to have an inclusive, family-like atmosphere where players feel comfortable to be themselves while being challenged at the level that they desire. We believe in Soccer for Life!!

Atlético Kingston does not interact in any way with un-sanctioned non-member organizations.

Our Mission

To promote, develop and foster a love for the game of soccer for as many people as possible.

Our Vision

Atlético Kingston is dedicated to helping our members develop their character on and off the field by providing opportunities, through the game of soccer, for their mental, physical, social and leadership development. Our club follows Canada Soccer's Long Term Player Development model (LTPD) and Ontario Soccer's Club Excellence Pathway.  We strive to ensure that all of our members will be soccer members for life.

Our Values

We Put Our Players First: Our players are the focus of everything we do. We follow the Code of Conduct put forth by Ontario Soccer to ensure that our players have the best and safest experience possible.

We Have High Standards: We are committed to excellence by being the best youth soccer organization that we can be. We will always attempt to have the highest level of certification and licensing that we can based on Canada Soccer and Ontario Soccer's standards and best practices. Fiscal responsibility will always be a priority.

We Lead By Example: We will hold ourselves and our members accountable to model positive behaviours and be role models for our youth.

We Are Inclusive & Fun: To the best of our abilities, we will provide soccer opportunities for all and welcome everyone who wants to participate. We will always attempt to remove barriers that may stop players from being able to participate.  Soccer is fun!

We Are Community Partners: We are engaged with our local community. We support our members in becoming upstanding citizens through engagement in our community and within our club. We believe that volunteering is integral in building good character.

History

Founded in 1981, Atlético Kingston has operated for over 30 years as a youth soccer club, originally formed under the name Kingston Township Minor Soccer Association.

In 2024, the club rebranded as Atlético Kingston to celebrate the partnership with Atlético Ottawa, and by extension, Atlético Madrid. This partnership gives our players the opportunities to continue to grow in the sport, giving players a better pathway to advancement.

Prior to being known as Atlético Kingston, the club went under 3 other names. In 1998, the name Cataraqui Clippers was adopted when Kingston Township and Pittsburgh Township amalgamated to form the city of Kingston. In 2015, the name Kingston Clippers was born to give more identity to where the club was on the map.  In 2018, the club entered into an agreement to partner with Queen's University whose sports teams are known as the Queen's Golden Gaels, renaming the soccer club as the Jr. Gaels Soccer Club.
